Common Remedies for Sciatica, only Some of Which Work

By Joshua Moffatt

Is your lower back and leg pain getting the best of you? Is it preventing you from doing more things? Has it gotten to the point where the pain is not feasibly controlable in the general ways?

If your answer to one or all these questions is yes then it's no surprise that you have found your way here. Many people suffer with sciatica so it is important to know you're not alone in your distress and that many others are in the same position as you. The most important thing to do is to address the issue so you do not start adapting your whole life to accomodate the agony; this is a unhealthy approach as should you start this you may cope with the discomfort better, but ultimately you are accepting this agony into your life for the foreseeable future.

What should I do to eliminate the discomfort?

There are numerous good cures for sciatica but all will change in their particular effectiveness to your special complaint. Due to this it is worth trying several different treatment types to find the one that works best. Apropos fast relief you may find that lying on the floor with your knees up could be helpful, you can try experimenting with different positions so that if you get an episode of increased discomfort you know what position to get into right away. Painkillers are the generally prescribed drugs for relief of sciatica; you could also just buy them over the counter in supermarkets, chemists and other shops. Painkillers will mask the root cause but they can not be designed to deal with the cause and they have side effects attached with them so be sure to read these before taking them.

Manual cures are probably the most impressive and most used treatment for the handling of sciatica. Practitioners have titles like Osteopath, Chiropractor, Physiotherapist, Massage specialist, Acupuncturist and a lot of others. It is worth checking those in close proximity to you, with a good reputation and affordable charges as sciatica will generally take at least many sessions to work.
