The Importance Of HIV Organizations NYC

By Susan Graham

There are many bodies that are engaged in global response to diseases that are becoming more deadly to human health. This has called for worldwide awareness on how to curb and prevent them. A good example of such diseases is the HIV and AIDs. HIV organizations Nyc have been set up to help address the issues that affect people living with the virus. Through National AIDs control programmes, International development agencies, government, and nongovernmental organizations have devoted time, resources and energy to developing low-cost measures to intervene and arrest the spread of the virus. There several strategies that have been put in place to prevent the spread of the disease.

Through social marketing techniques, efforts to prevent the spread of the virus have been made available to the society. This involves the use of programs like the condom social marketing which has made condoms more accessible and affordable and also promote their use and be made acceptable to the target population.

Another role of NYC that the infected are treated. They facilitate this by ensuring there are enough medication and consistent supply of the medicinal drugs in the health facility. Also, they have instructed those in charge of nutrition on the nutritional requirements of those victims to help boost their immune system. Their food is readily available in the facility and easily accessible at all times.

World Health Organization Have gone an extra mile to offer routine universal HIV testing and STI screening and universal promotion of treatment. This is due to the fact that, the cost of treating the disease is high. Therefore, the World Health Organization has resolved to provide universal treatment to the victims whichever the income level and ensure that the ARVs are made available in the health facilities.

The gender dynamics are also highly affected by the epidemic due to the weaker ability of women to negotiate safe sex and their lower social and economic status. This is contributed by lower family status as most families are living below the poverty line, therefore, girl child may be exploited sexually to bring additional income to the family. Through social marketing techniques such as the use of condom has been preached globally to reduce the spread of the disease.

Since most of these organizations have no enough time to participate in campaigns, awareness, rallies and seminars, conferences on HIV/ AIDs, they provide sufficient funding on the same to make sure that it is done on time and to the right people.

Also, these organizations have administered the use of emergency medical response methods like use of post-exposure prophylaxis (PEP) which protects individual against HIV through an accident or women who have been raped. Although it has not been proved to prevent the transmission of the virus it suggested it minimizes the chance of contracting the disease if administered on time.

Also, the World Health Organization resolved into universal precautions in the health sectors to protect healthcare workers and their patients from blood-borne infections. These include activities like the thorough washing of hands with water and soap before and after procedures and disinfecting instruments, using protective clothing, proper handling of equipment among others while executing their roles.
